Gwalior:  Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia on Monday announced four new flight routes from Gwalior, in a bid to cater the rising travel demand. Following the announcement Gwalior’s airport is expected to witness a surge ahead of Makar Sankranti festival.

Making the announcement Scindia said, “In a bid to meet the growing demand of travel between Gwalior-Delhi-Bengaluru, multiple new flight routes will be operational in cooperation with Air India Express from Makar Sankranti. This will provide the needed ease to passengers and bridge the gap between the said cities.”

The routes include Bengaluru-Gwalior, Gwalior-Delhi, Delhi-Gwalior, and Gwalior-Bengaluru. Carrier Air India Express will play a crucial role in improving the connectivity from Gwalior, particularly on the Bengaluru-Delhi route, as two additional flights are scheduled to manage the influx from the metropolitan cities.

This will ease the commute as at present there are no non-stop flights from Gwalior to Bengaluru, with current options require a layover before reaching the tech city.

Walking on the footsteps of Indian’s largest airline IndiGo, Air India Express is looking at massive expansion of air travel to address the increasing demand of travellers bound to Delhi and Bengaluru.

The increase in the number of flights is a well calculated decision to meet the high demand of air travel in the region.
