Chamoli: Gopeshwar and Kotdwar regions of Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district will soon have passport offices. Garhwal MP and BJP ’s national media head, Anil Baluni, shared the news on X, announcing that the opening of a passport office in Kotdwar, under the Garhwal Lok Sabha constituency, has been approved.
Earlier, Baluni, who had paid a courtesy visit to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar , raised the issue of the lack of passport offices in the region. He had demanded the opening of passport offices in Kotdwar and Gopeshwar to ensure that citizens could easily access passport-related services.
In his post, he stated that his demand had been approved and that this decision would come as a relief to young students:
“Honorable External Affairs Minister Shri S. Jaishankar Ji has informed me that, on my request, he has approved the opening of a passport office in Kotdwar of Garhwal Lok Sabha, which will start functioning very soon. You may recall that some time ago, I met the External Affairs Minister and demanded the opening of passport offices in Kotdwar and Gopeshwar so that the citizens of our Lok Sabha constituency could access passport-related services easily and conveniently.”

“I am thankful to the respected Foreign Minister for taking the problems of the citizens of Garhwal Lok Sabha constituency, especially the youth, seriously and for taking prompt action on my request. He also informed me about the progress on it. With the opening of the passport office, the youth of our Garhwal region will no longer have to travel elsewhere for a passport to go abroad for education and employment. This will also save them time and money.”
