Diagnosed with the rare ARPC1b immunodeficiency at one year old, Sushant faced severe immune system compromise, leading to life-threatening infections. Referred to AHRR six months ago without an HLA-matched sibling donor, the Hematology team orchestrated an exhaustive search for a suitable donor and meticulously planned the bone marrow transplant.

The Matched Unrelated Donor (MUD) transplant on November 30, 2023, involved harvesting healthy stem cells from an HLA-compatible voluntary unrelated donor and infusing them into Sushant's bloodstream after destroying his defective cells with high-dose chemotherapy, to replace defective immune cells with healthy ones, offering a renewed chance at a vibrant life.
