iPhones Worth 11 Crore Looted from Truck in MP's Sagar, 1 Police Officer Suspended
The container truck, en route from Gurugram in Haryana to Chennai, was robbed in Narsinghpur district. Police is currently investigating the claims.
Sagar: Approximately 1,500 iPhones valued at ₹11 crore were stolen from a container truck in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. Disciplinary action has been taken against three police officers for negligence, with one being suspended. The theft occurred on August 15 after the truck driver was allegedly drugged and gagged, according to Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjay Uikey.
The container truck, en route from Gurugram in Haryana to Chennai, was robbed in Narsinghpur district. Police is currently verifying the claims made by those transporting the phones. "Apple, the manufacturer, has not yet contacted the police. I'm at the scene, around 35 kilometers from the district headquarters, and we're conducting a videography of the truck," Uikey said, as per PTI.
As the investigation continues, a case will be registered once the initial probe is completed, informed the authorities.
Disciplinary Action Against Three Police Officers for Negligence
In response to the incident, the Inspector General of Police for the Sagar zone, Pramod Verma, took action against their own police personnel deployed at the moment. Bandari police station-in-charge, Inspector Bhagchand Uikey, and Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajendra Pandey were removed from field duty with immediate effect.
Head Constable Rajesh Pandey was also suspended for his role in the mishandling of the case.
The officers were accused of negligence for failing to register a complaint when the truck driver reported the incident. Inspector General Verma was unavailable for comment, according to PTI.
