Ranchi: Members of the banned CPI (Maoist) reportedly detonated a portion of railway tracks, causing disruption to train services in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district along the Howrah-Mumbai route. The incident, occurring between Goilkera and Posoita railway stations, approximately 150 km from Ranchi, occurred overnight between Thursday and Friday, confirmed West Singhbhum Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Sekhar.

Security measures have been intensified in the area, with repair efforts on the damaged railway tracks commencing early in the morning. SP Sekhar assured the public that train services are expected to resume promptly. Additionally, Maoists erected banners and posters in the vicinity.

This act of sabotage coincides with the outfit's ongoing 'protest week,' initiated on December 16, and the subsequent call for a Bharat bandh on Friday. The authorities continue to monitor the situation closely amidst heightened tensions.
