Bengaluru: Karnataka is set to experience a 12-hour statewide bandh on Saturday (March 22), as pro-Kannada groups have called for a shutdown from 6 am to 6 pm. The bandh is expected to cause significant disruptions in Bengaluru and other parts of the state, with traffic flow at key locations like Majestic, Town Hall, and Freedom Park likely to be impacted. In response, Bengaluru police have ramped up security to ensure law and order during the protest.
The bandh is anticipated to affect public transport, business activities, and daily routines across the state. B Dayananda, the Bengaluru city police commissioner, issued a warning on Friday, stating that anyone forcing people to participate in the bandh will face legal action. A large contingent of security forces, including 60 KSRP platoons, 1,200 home guards, and the entire civil and traffic police force, has been mobilised.
