A Public Interest Litigation was filed by an advocate in Jaipur against Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa.
A Public Interest Litigation was filed by an advocate in Jaipur against Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa stating that there is no reference of these posts in the Constitution of India, according to media reports.
The Advocate Om Prakash Solanki told the reporters that he has filed the PIL against Rajasthan Deputy Chief Ministers Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa, as per media reports.
He added that there is no mention of Deputy Chief Minister's post in the Constitution. He added taht this is just a political post and it is unconstitutional.
The Deputy Prime Minister is a political position rather than a constitutional position, unlike the position of Vice President of India, according to constitutional provisions. The position of DY PM was first created in 1947 upon the appointment of Sardar Vallabhai Patel as India's first Deputy PM. As a result, India created the position of Deputy Chief Minister.
Notably, in the event that the chief minister is unavailable, DY CM may preside over cabinet sessions and guide the assembly majority. In accordance with the Chief Minister's oath of secrecy, the DY CM also takes one.
Prem Chand Bairwa and Diya Kumari took oath as Deputy Chief Ministers of Rajasthan on Friday.
