Mamata Govt says no discussion can take place with condition amidst Kolkata doctors firm on demands

West Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Pant on Wednesday said despite efforts, the government has failed to elicit a positive response from the junior doctors on protest over the RG Kar rape-murder.

Taking exception to the protesters’ insistence on holding talks on their terms and conditions, Pant said this attitude does not bode well for a discussion. “We have mailed them today as well, we requested them to come and meet us today. We wanted to tell them what we were planning. Unfortunately, their response was not positive. They have sent mail, they want 30 people to be present. No discussion can take place with the condition.
