Kota: A 35-year-old assistant loco pilot in the Indian Railways, Lokesh Malav, was found hanging in his house in the Ujjwal Vihar area of Kota, police said on Friday. His brother claimed that Malav was harassed by his wife and in-laws, leading to his tragic death.

Brother Alleged Family Dispute Led to Suicide

According to Circle Inspector Devesh Bhardwaj, Malav’s brother found him hanging from a ceiling fan on Thursday evening. The brother accused Malav’s wife and in-laws of pressuring him, stating that they had been living separately for the past two years with their four-year-old son.

The brother further alleged that Malav was not allowed to meet his child, which had left him mentally disturbed.

The police registered a case under Section 194 of the BNSS Act and conducted a post-mortem on Friday before handing over the body to the family. Investigations into the case were ongoing, and the police were looking into the allegations of family harassment.

Colleagues Blamed Employer, Protested Outside DRM Office

While Malav’s brother blamed his wife and in-laws, his colleagues had a different story. Many of them protested with his body in an ambulance outside the DRM office for an hour, claiming that he had died due to harassment from the railway administration.

A colleague revealed that Malav was under immense pressure because he had tested positive for alcohol while on duty. As a result, he was subjected to disciplinary action, which had allegedly pushed him into distress.

Probe On

The police are now investigating both angles—family harassment and workplace pressure—to determine the exact reason behind Malav’s suicide. Authorities are also examining official railway records to verify the disciplinary action taken against him.

With allegations from both family and colleagues, the true cause of Lokesh Malav’s death remains under investigation.
