Meerut (UP): A 42-year-old clinic operator, Dharmendra Mavi, was bobbitised by a woman's husband and two brothers after they accused him of making unwanted advances towards her, police confirmed on Friday.
The brutal attack left Mavi seriously injured, and he was rushed to a local hospital before being referred to Delhi for advanced treatment due to the severity of his condition.
According to police, the incident stemmed from allegations made by a woman who had been visiting Mavi’s clinic for treatment. She informed her husband, Satish (45), that Mavi had been making advances towards her.
Furious over the allegations, Satish, along with his two brothers-in-law, Vivek and Vikram (both in their 30s), confronted Mavi at his clinic on Asifabad Road on Thursday evening. In a fit of rage, they attacked him with a sharp weapon, police said.
Following the incident, Mavi’s brother, Pappu, lodged a complaint at the local police station on the same day. Based on the complaint and initial investigation, police arrested Satish, Vivek, and Vikram on Friday.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Rakesh Kumar Mishra confirmed the arrests and stated that the investigation is ongoing.
Authorities are now probing the exact circumstances that led to the violent act. Officials stated that they would be reviewing evidence and witness statements to determine whether the accused acted out of provocation or if there was any prior dispute between Mavi and the woman’s family.
Meanwhile, the victim remains in critical condition, and doctors in Delhi are closely monitoring his recovery.
