Mumbai: Mumbai Police on Tuesday dispelled all the false claims regarding the health of Ratan Tata’s beloved pet dog. A misleading WhatsApp message falsely reported that Goa had died three days after Tata’s passing, stirring concern among fans and followers.

The viral message read,” Sad news…Tata’s pet dog GOA dies three days after his death. That’s why they say dogs are more loyal to their masters than human beings!”

In response, Inspector Kudalkar confirmed via an Instagram post that Goa is alive and well. He verified this information with Shantanu Naidu, a close friend of Tata.

“A WhatsApp message is circulating about Late Ratan Tata ji’s pet dog, Goa , passing away. I verified this with Shantanu Naidu, who confirmed that Goa is doing fine. Please make sure to verify facts before sharing posts,” Kudalkar wrote.

Netizens express relief

Soon after the post, netizens expressed relief, condemning those who spread the false information. One user remarked, “Absolutely shameless people who are circulating these kinds of fake news.”

Another added, “Thank God Goa is fine.”

While others highlighted the emotional impact of such baseless rumors.

Here’s how Ratan Tata adopted his beloved Goa

Ratan Tata’s beloved dog Goa was present at his funeral. The industrialist had a special bond with stray dogs and often advocated for their welfare.

The story of Goa ’s name is equally touching. Tata adopted the stray dog during a visit to Goa and brought him back to Mumbai, where he was since lived at the Bombay House alongside other rescued dogs.

Ratan Tata passed away at the age of 86 on October 9 at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and philanthropy.
