Punjab: Navjot Kaur Sidhu resigned from the Congress on Saturday, stating that the voices of hardworking and capable leaders are not heard and that decisions are made based on personal interests. This comes after she was suspended from the party last month.
After quitting the party, she launched a sharp attack on Punjab Congress President Raja Warring. She alleged that Warring has proven to be the most terrible, incompetent and corrupt state president to date. She also accused him of having sold the party for "petty gains".
Last month, Congress suspended her after her “Rs 500 crore for CM's chair” remark. She had alleged that “the one who gives a suitcase of Rs 500 crore becomes the Chief Minister”. She had also warned of deep infighting, saying at least five leaders are vying for the top post and would block her husband’s comeback unless the party officially names him as its CM face.
Navjot Kaur Sidhu added that her husband is emotionally attached to the Congress party and its leader Priyanka Gandhi, but he will not get a role due to heavy infighting.
