Odisha CM Patnaik to inaugurate Shri Mandir Parikrama Project to ease Rath Yatra challenges

The Srimandir Heritage Corridor Project was brought forth by the Naveen Patnaik government to address challenges faced during the 2022 Rath Yatra in Puri.

PURI, ODISHA: On January 17, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will reportedly inaugurate the Jagannath Puri heritage corridor. Puri Collector Samarth Verma was quoted by ANI as saying that the “Shri Mandir Parikrama Project will be inaugurated on January 17 and the Maharaja of temple administration will inaugurate it in the presence of the Chief Minister...We have made an elaborative arrangement to conduct this programme in everybody's presence.”

The Lingraj temple was reportedly visited this morning by members of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration who then proceeded to extend invites for the upcoming inauguration to Lord Lingraj and the state Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Invites were also sent out to Mahaparvhanu Lord Jagganath and Jagadguru Shankaracharya.

According to the ANI report, the journey for SJTA delegates started back on December 26, with one team travelling across the state to make invitations to major ‘Deva Peeths’ across the state while another team has been sent outside the state for the same. 

The Srimandir Heritage Corridor Project was brought forth by the Naveen Patnaik government to address challenges during the 2022 Rath Yatra in Puri. The project is slated to add everything from convenience measures such as cloakrooms and provision for clean drinking water to safety provisions such as the addition of open spaces around the temple in order to prevent any potential stampedes and ease the flow of traffic.
