Operation Bhediya: Officials Give Deadline for Capturing Remaining 2 Wolves

Bahraich: In Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich district, 'Operation Bhediya' continues as officials intensify efforts to capture two remaining wolves that have been terrorizing the area. Officials have informed that the presence of the wolves have been detected by drone and they will be captured within 2 days.

The wolves are responsible for the deaths of eight people, including seven children and a woman, over the past two months.

Officials Set Deadline to Capture Wolves

Abhishek Singh, Circle Officer of the Bahraich Forest Division, informed that drones have detected the presence of the wolves, and they are expected to be captured by today or tomorrow. "Our entire team is on-site under the guidance of the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO). We have traced the wolves using drones and will capture them soon," Singh told the news agency ANI.

So far, four wolves have been caught, with traps laid at Sisayya Chudaamani village, where the fourth wolf was captured on Thursday. The forest department has been employing various methods, including drones, nets, and cages, to track and capture the wolves. Additionally, firecrackers are being used at night to protect villagers from further attacks.

Divisional Forest Officer Akashdeep Badhawan from Barabanki noted that the pack of wolves has been under constant surveillance, with one wolf successfully tranquilized and captured last week. The department is working diligently to prevent further incidents, with enhanced security measures such as ensuring electricity in affected areas and setting up doors on homes in vulnerable regions.

Circle Officer Rupendra Gaur talked about the the ongoing efforts to ensure public safety, he said, "We are continuously trying to catch the wolves and are making sure that no further incidents occur. So far, eight people have lost their lives, and 15 others have been injured."

Local MLA Sureshwar Singh also highlights the extent of the wolf scare that began on July 17, 2024, and the measures being taken to protect residents, including the deployment of infrared drones by the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department, which recently confirmed the presence of the two remaining wolves in the area.
