Patna: The Bihar government has introduced Pink Buses exclusively for women in four cities—Patna, Muzaffarpur, Purnia, and Bhagalpur. These buses will be operational from April and were announced in the state budget.

The initiative, launched by the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC), will initially operate eight Pink Buses in Patna, while Muzaffarpur, Purnia, and Bhagalpur will each have four buses.

The buses will run from 6 AM to 9 PM and aim to provide safe public transport for women in urban areas.

As the name suggests, these mini CNG buses will be pink in color and designed with enhanced security measures for women. Trained female staff will be deployed in key roles, including drivers, conductors, and maintenance personnel.

Special safety features include:

-CCTV cameras for onboard security
- GPS tracking for real-time location monitoring
- Panic buttons under every seat, allowing passengers to alert the nearest police station or control room in case of an emergency
- 22-seat capacity for a comfortable commute

A bus will be available every hour on each route.
