Mann ki Baat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi , in his 119th 'Mann Ki Baat’ address on Sunday urged youth to embrace science, fight obesity, celebrate sports, and hands over his social media to women achievers.

A Call to Embrace Science: ‘One Day as a Scientist’

PM Modi encouraged the youth to actively participate in scientific exploration. Ahead of National Science Day on February 28, he proposed an initiative called ‘One Day as a Scientist’, urging citizens to visit research labs, planetariums, or space centers.

Highlighting India's growing presence in space, he lauded ISRO ’s 100th rocket launch, calling it more than just a number—it represents India's resolve to reach new heights. He noted that India has launched 460 satellites in the last decade*, making space exploration an exciting career path for young Indians. 

Women's Day 2025: PM Modi’s Social Media Takeover by Women

In a big move for International Women’s Day (March 8), PM Modi announced he would hand over his social media accounts—including X and Instagram—to inspiring women across various fields.  

“This time on Women’s Day, I will hand over my social media accounts to some of the most inspiring women in India. They have carved a unique identity in their fields and deserve to share their stories with the nation,” he said.

This initiative follows a similar effort in 2020 when PM Modi gave control of his accounts to seven women achievers. With over 105.5 million followers on X and 92 million on Instagram, this gesture amplifies their voices on a massive scale.  

Obesity Crisis: A National Health Warning

PM Modi addressed the growing concern of obesity in India, revealing that one in eight people suffer from it and that cases among children have quadrupled in recent years.  

To combat this, he shared messages from Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra , world boxing champion Nikhat Zareen, and renowned cardiac surgeon Dr. Devi Shetty. Their key advice? Reduce oil consumption by 10% as a simple yet effective step towards a healthier lifestyle.  

“Excessive oil consumption can lead to heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension. Making small dietary changes can help us build a fitter and healthier future,” PM Modi emphasized.  

Celebrating Young Athletes & Sports Stars

PM Modi also praised young athletes shining on the international stage, particularly those from the Khelo India initiative. He highlighted Sawan Barwal, Kiran Mate, Tejas Shirse, Jyoti Yaraji, Sachin Yadav, Pooja, and Dhinidhi Desindhu, who have set new national records.

“These young sportspersons have ignited new hopes in the nation. Their hard work and achievements will inspire many more to take up sports,” he said.  

Biodiversity & Wildlife Conservation

Recognizing India’s deep-rooted connection with nature, PM Modi celebrated World Wildlife Day (March 3) by applauding conservation efforts that have led to a surge in the population of endangered species.  

He also urged support for startups working on wildlife protection and sustainable biodiversity. “Many startups have emerged in this field, and their contributions are making a difference,” he said.  

Message for Students Appearing in Board Exams

As board exams approach, PM Modi reassured students with a motivational message: “Face your exams with a positive mindset, without stress.” He also mentioned the new format of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha 2025’, which now spans eight episodes and has been widely appreciated.
