Mann ki Baat: As International Women’s Day approaches, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced a special initiative to honor and celebrate the achievements of women across India. During the 119th episode of Mann Ki Baat, he said that on March 8, his social media accounts, including X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, will be managed by accomplished women from various fields.  

“This time on Women’s Day.. I am going to hand over my social media accounts like X, and Instagram to some inspiring ladies of the country. Women who have achieved success in myriad fields; who have innovated and created a unique identity for themselves in various fields,” he said.

Highlighting women’s contributions in different domains, PM Modi emphasized that knowledge and strength are deeply tied to feminine power. He quoted Hansa Mehta, a key contributor to the Indian Constitution, to reinforce the importance of women’s empowerment.

Through this initiative, selected women will take over PM Modi’s social media platforms to share their journeys, challenges, and achievements, inspiring millions nationwide. Those interested in participating can apply via a special forum on the NaMo App.

Observed annually on March 8, International Women’s Day recognizes the social, economic, cultural, and political contributions of women while advocating for gender equality and empowerment worldwide. 

Earlier, in 2020, PM Modi handed control of his social media accounts to seven distinguished women. With 105.5 million followers on X and 92 million on Instagram, he is among the world's most-followed leaders.
