PM Modi hails feat as over 1 crore Ayushman cards get issued during Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra
Under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), every Ayushman cardholder can get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh per annum per family.
New Delhi: Over 1 crore Ayushman cards have been issued in the country so far, announced the health ministry on Friday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hailed the feat. He took to X to write that the purpose of Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) is to take the benefits of government schemes to all the eligible citizens.
Under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), every Ayushman cardholder can get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh per annum per family in an empaneled hospital across the country.
According to the health ministry, the cards have been created under the ongoing Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra. So far, a cumulative footfall of 1,31,66,365 has been recorded at over 79,487 Viksit Bharat health camps. The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra was launched by PM Modi on November 15 from Khunti, in Jharkhand to saturate the benefits of central government schemes across the nation.
