In a political development, a Twitter war of words has broken between BJP MP from East Delhi Gautam Gambhir and Congress leader Radhika Khera on Friday after she took a dig at the newly-appointed MP over his Cricket commentary during the ongoing ICC World Cup.

Taking to Twitter, the Congress leader questioned the absence of the BJP MP during the Parliament session, saying that Prime Minister Modi "played a game with the people of East Delhi just before the elections". Taking a jibe at the cricketer-turned-poilitician, Kehra wrote said that the MP who should be batting for the issues of people was scoring sixes in his commentary during the Cricket World Cup.

"Where is PM Modi's new MP Gautam Gambhir of the New India? Just before the elections, PM played a game with the people of East Delhi. The MP who should have been batting for the problems of the people was scoring sixes of his commentary sitting in the studio box. Can you understand the seriousness of Modi government?" the Congress leader wrote to Twitter.

Responding to her tweet, Gautam Gambhir said that he was "Gambhir (serious)" when he was playing the game for the country and even today when he is an MP. Lashing out at the Congress leader, Gambhir added that one has to come to the field to work for the country and not on Twitter. He also said that he attended the Lok Sabha session in the Parliament.

"Madam, I was serious (Gambhir) even when I played the game for the country and today as an MP. I understand my responsibilities and for your information, I was in the Parliament today. One has to be on the ground to work for the country and not Twitter," the BJP leader wrote in his reply.

Responding to Gambhir's attack, Radhika Khera asked him on how many days he attended the initial proceedings of the Parliament, adding that the attendance register can reveal the truth.

"Not sure about the ground but you are definitely seen during commentaries on TV. Just tell us the number of days you attended the Parliament proceedings in the first session? And yes, don't lie 'Khiladi ji', as the attendance register can reveal the truth," wrote Radhika Khera in her tweet.

Earlier, Twitter spat broke out between Gautam Gambhir and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti over Article 370 following which the former J&K chief ended up blocking the BJP leader on Twitter.
