Video: Pune Couple Stops for Vada Pav, Loses Rs 5 Lakh Worth of Jewelry to Thief

New Delhi: Stopping for having a Vada Pav at a shop, proved costly for an elderly couple in Pune as they were robbed of jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh within a few seconds.

According to sources, the bike-borne couple on their way back from a bank when the broad daylight robbery took place on Thursday afternoon. The incident was captured on CCTV.

In the CCTV footage, the couple can be seen stopping at a food joint and parking the scooter on the roadside. The woman remained near their two-wheeler while the man entered the shop to buy the fast food.

The video further showed that with a few seconds, a masked man on bike stopped near the scooter and signaled the woman that something has fallen on the road. In the meanwhile, another man in a white shirt who was standing near the two-wheeler recced the scooter.

As soon as the elderly woman bent to pick up the item, the man in the white shirt grabbed the bag with valuables which was kept on on the scooter and fled. Initially confused, the woman, then screams for help after she spotted the man running with her property. Soon after, a crowd gathers around her.

According to media reports, the stolen bag also had bank documents and their mobile phone.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case in connection with the robbery. An investigation into the matter is underway. More details are awaited.
