Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Devnani Storms Out in Fury, Throws Papers Amid Budget Session Chaos

Jaipur: The Rajasthan Assembly witnessed a chaotic moment on Monday during a heated debate on the grant demands, when Speaker Vasudev Devnani lost his temper and stormed out of the session, throwing papers in frustration.

The incident unfolded during the discussion on the Industry Department’s grant demands, which saw a tense exchange between Devnani and the Leader of the Opposition, Tikaram Julie.

As the debate progressed, Devnani, citing time constraints, instructed the MLAs to submit their views on the grant demands in writing and asked Industry Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore to respond.

However, this decision sparked opposition from Julie, who argued that three MLAs still hadn’t had a chance to speak. Julie suggested that if each of the three MLAs could speak for just two minutes, it wouldn't delay the minister’s response.

This disagreement led to a sharp exchange of words between the Speaker and the Leader of the Opposition. Growing frustrated, Devnani exclaimed, “I am leaving, you run the House till midnight,” before throwing a paper in anger.

Julie, attempting to calm the situation, responded, "Why are you getting angry? We are just asking for permission for three members to speak."

Despite the initial tension, Devnani eventually calmed down and arranged for the three Congress MLAs to speak, allowing the debate to continue smoothly.

Following the brief disruption, the proceedings in the Assembly returned to normal, and the House resumed its business. The incident highlighted the intensity of the ongoing debate over grant demands and the sometimes heated atmosphere within the legislative sessions.

This moment of chaos, captured on video, has since gone viral, raising questions about the conduct of Assembly proceedings and the tension between the ruling party and opposition members.
