Rohtak: A gruesome murder of a Congress leader has surfaced in Haryana's Rohtak, where the deceased woman's body was found stuffed in a suitcase near the flower passing through Sampla town. The incident sent a shock wave across the town as it surfaced on social media. On information, the local Rohtak police rushed to the spot and shifted the body of the woman Congress leader to a nearby hospital for a postmortem. According to the police sources, initially, the body could not be identified, prompting the police to send it to Rohtak PGI for postmortem and identification.

Later, the deceased was identified as Himani Narwal, a Congress leader, who had been actively involved in the party's campaigns. As per reports, Himani was seen with Rahul Gandhi during the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’. She had also shared a photograph with Rahul Gandhi on social media, wherein she donned a Haryanvi attire. During the Haryana assembly elections, Himani had also campaigned for Deepender Hooda and Bhupendra Hooda in Rohtak.

Meanwhile, the brutal murder of the Congress leader has sparked widespread outrage, with Congress MLA from Rohtak, BB Batra, demanding a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the murder. The police have launched an investigation into the matter, and the community remains in shock over the untimely demise of the young Congress leader.

Rohtak Police Initiate Investigation

According to the sources, the body of the youth Congress leader was found stuffed in a suitcase near the Sampla bus stand. The suitcase, which was discovered on the side of the road, on Saturday. During the initial examination, it was found that the woman had been strangled to death and dumped on the roadside in a suitcase. According to eyewitnesses, the suitcase was a large, blue container that had been left unattended near the bus stand.

The police were promptly informed about the discovery of the dead body, and a team from the Sampla police station, led by SHO Bijendra Singh, reached the spot to initiate investigation. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was also called at the site to collect evidence and assist in the probe.

The preliminary investigations suggested that the woman's murder may have been committed using a dupatta, which was found wrapped around her neck. She had mehendi on her hands.

A case has been registered in the matter and an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the identity of those involved in the killing of the Congress leader.

Bhupinder Hooda Demands High-Level Probe

Meanwhile, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda took to X to condemn the crime saying, “The news of the barbaric murder of active Congress worker Himani Narwal in Rohtak is extremely sad and shocking. I pay my tribute to the departed soul and express my deepest condolences to the family members.”

“The murder of a girl in this manner and finding her body in a suitcase is extremely sad and shocking. This in itself is a blot on the law and order situation of the state. There should be a high-level impartial investigation of this murder and the government should provide justice to the victim's family as soon as possible and provide the harshest punishment to the culprits,” Hooda sought a high-level investigation.
