'Shrikant Pujari being harassed': Counsel of Karsewak to Republic | EXCLUSIVE

New Delhi: Karnataka Police has reopened a 31-year-old case against Ram Mandir activist Shreekanth Poojari, resulting in his detention. The legal counsel of the detained Karsewaks spoke exclusively to Republic Network, asserting Poojari's innocence and citing harassment. Plans to file a bail application are underway.

"My client is innocent, he is being harassed. Tomorrow, I will file the bail application,” the counsel said.

Hindu activists rallied against the arrest, staging protests outside the police station, where "Jai Shri Ram" slogans resonated.

Despite initial tension, a conciliation between pro-Hindu activists and the police occurred, leading to the eventual calling off of protests.

Shreekanth Poojari, a Hindu activist, now faces charges related to his involvement in the Ram Janmabhoomi protest, reigniting a three-decades-old case.

In response, the state BJP announces massive protests across Karnataka, condemning the Congress government for reopening the Hubballi case.

The BJP labels the government as anti-Hindu, heightening political tensions in the region.

Notably, the 50-year-old Karsevak Shrikanth Poojari was arrested for being involved in the Hubballi Ram Temple protest following the 1992 demolition of the Babri Masjid.
