Speeding Govt Jeep Kills Two, Injures One in Bihar's Jehanabad; Driver Held

Jehanabad ( Bihar ): A speeding government jeep killed two people, including a woman, and injured another in the Parasbigha area of Jehanabad district on Friday, police said. The deceased have been identified as Karan Kumar and Dhamanti Devi.

The tragic incident occurred when the jeep, belonging to a Bihar government department, struck the victims. 

The driver attempted to flee the scene, hitting another woman in the process. 

All three victims were rushed to a nearby government hospital, where Kumar and Devi succumbed to their injuries. 

The third person is reported to be in stable condition.

“A call was received by the police that a speeding jeep hit two persons in Parasbigha area in the morning. Later, the vehicle struck another woman while the driver was trying to flee. All three were taken to the nearest government hospital, where two of the injured succumbed to injuries. The condition of another injured person is reported to be stable,” SP Arvind Pratap Singh said.

The driver of the jeep was caught by villagers, who tied him to a tree and thrashed him.

After getting the information, police reached the village and rescued the driver and arrested him.

The officer said that the driver was in stable condition.

Another officer of the Parasbigha police station told reporters that the jeep belonged to a government department, and a case has been registered in connection with the incident.
