New Delhi: AAP hit back at the BJP after it released images allegedly showing a lavish “Sheesh Mahal” linked to Arvind Kejriwal, calling the visuals “fake” and daring BJP leaders to open their own homes to the public.

AAP leaders said that if questions are being raised over Kejriwal’s residence, then Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and others should also open doors to their residences, and then AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal will follow.

Rejecting the BJP’s claims, AAP leader Atishi said the pictures being circulated do not belong to Kejriwal’s residence.

“All the pictures released by Parvesh Verma are fake. They are not pictures of Kejriwal ji's house. To find out whose house is how luxurious, Rekha Gupta Ji and LG Sahib should open their own houses, and Kejriwal ji will open his house. The public will decide for itself,” she said in a post on X.

AAP leader Anurag Dhanda also dismissed the allegations as baseless, reiterating that the images have no connection to Kejriwal.

Pinterest Images Being Passed off as Sheesh Mahal?

The party further alleged that the images shared by BJP leaders were sourced from the internet, claiming they were stock visuals or interior design concepts taken from platforms like Pinterest.

Taking a swipe, AAP said the BJP resorted to “fabrications” due to lack of real evidence, even suggesting that the images appeared to be designer proposals rather than actual photographs of any residence.

BJP Shares Arvind Kejriwal's ‘Sheesh Mahal 2.0’ Images

Earlier in a day, BJP launched a blistering attack on Saturday, with Deputy Chief Minister Parvesh Verma likening Arvind Kejriwal to “Rehman Dakait", the infamous villain from the Bollywood hit Dhurandhar.

During a press conference, Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma accused Arvind Kejriwal of adopting an extravagant lifestyle, suggesting a sharp contradiction to his former public image of simplicity. accusing Kejriwal of living an extravagant lifestyle contrary to his earlier image.

Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma claimed that Kejriwal’s bungalow reflected excessive luxury, stating that the interiors resembled a “7-star hotel room” and highlighting features such as multiple bedrooms.

The BJP has also alleged that a second “Sheesh Mahal” was commissioned, intensifying the political clash.

He said, "He made sheesh mahal that too at the time when Delhi's public was suffering from COVID. An extension was also being created for Rs 70 crore. After losing elections, he went to Punjab. Arvind Kejriwal, Satyendra Jain, Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia took possession of government residences near Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann's residence. Bhagwant Mann is tense with these people."

Why the row?

This comes after former Delhi CM shifted to a new Type-VII government bungalow at 95, Lodhi Estate in the national capital.

The "Sheesh Mahal" allegations first surfaced last year after the BJP accused him of excessive expenditure on renovations and luxury additions to the 6 Flagstaff Bungalow. The BJP had also filed a complaint with the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).

Who Are The 7 MPs Who Dumped AAP For BJP?

This comes after seven AAP Rajya Sabha MPs have resigned from the party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The leaders who have defected include Raghav Chadha, Ashok Mittal, Sandeep Pathak, Harbhajan Singh, Vikram Sahney, Swati Maliwal, and Rajendra Gupta.

Raghav Chadha’s Exit

Raghav Chadha, a Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, resigned from AAP and joined the BJP on April 24, 2026, setting off a major political upheaval within the party.

His exit, along with other MPs, has exposed internal rifts within AAP’s parliamentary wing. Party leaders have accused Chadha of “backstabbing” and alleged that the BJP is attempting to engineer defections to weaken AAP, particularly in Punjab.

Ashok Mittal’s Move After ED Raids

Ashok Mittal’s resignation has come as a surprise, especially since he was recently appointed as AAP’s deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, replacing Chadha.

Mittal, a Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab since April 2022, is part of several parliamentary committees, including defence and finance. Notably, he had earlier defended Chadha amid speculation about his switch, calling him a “senior leader” and reiterating AAP’s internal democracy.

His exit comes after ED conducted raids at multiple premises linked to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal in connection with an alleged violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

According to reports, searches are being carried out at around 8 to 10 locations, including premises in Punjab and Gurugram, as well as Mittal’s residence and farmhouse, along with properties linked to his son.
