Thane: Sand bag falls on pedestrian from construction lift, he dies

The deceased was identified as Dhananjay Tribhuvan Rai, a resident of Khanda Colony in Panvel.

Thane: A 31-year-old man was killed after being struck by a sand bag while he was walking on the road in Thane district in Maharashtra, police said on Friday. The pedestrian lost his life after the sand bag fell on him at a construction site at 7pm on December 20.

The deceased was identified as Dhananjay Tribhuvan Rai, a resident of Khanda Colony in Panvel.

According to an official from Khadakpada police station, Rai was walking on the road near a construction site when the tragic incident happened. The victim was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

"The bag filled with sand slipped from the construction lift and fell on him. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. An accidental death report has been registered and further probe into the incident is underway," reported news agency PTI quoting the official as saying.
