New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that today’s Bharat thinks big, aims big and bring big results as he defined aspirations of a limitless India. Addressing Republic Plenary Summit on the theme, ‘Limitless India’ at Bharat Mandapam, PM Modi said that Bharat today is driving the world growth as in the last 10 years, it has jumped from 11th to 5th largest economy in the world and will soon be becoming the third largest economy.

Defining how India's growth story picked up pace in the last decade, PM Modi shared an interesting fact that in 2007, there used to be an activity of around $1 lakh crore in one financial cycle of India's GDP but today the same activity is taking place in just one quarter (3 months) of the financial cycle, this shows the scale at which country has achieved its growth.

Speaking about how the government has been able to bring meaningful change in peoples' lives, PM Modi said that in the last 10 years, 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty. This number is more than the entire population of some countries.

PM Modi took a dig at Congress and recalled infamous remark of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi when the latter talked about corruption in government saying that he sends Rs 1 from Delhi but only Rs 15 paise reach the beneficiary. But speaking on how the situation has changed for the better under the present government, PM Modi said now if Rs 1 is sent for welfare schemes, 100 paise reaches to the beneficiary through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Speaking about other initiatives undertaken by his government, PM Modi said, “We launched the SVAMITVA scheme to grant property rights to rural households in India. Earlier, construction of houses was government-driven, but we have transformed it into an owner-driven approach."

The space sector was entirely under ISRO ’s control, which mean the country couldn’t fully utilise its potential. We dared to open the space sector for the young innovators, the Prime Minister said.

Targeting the Grand Old Party, PM Modi said Congress crushed the aspirations of the people of the country. That's why they stopped expecting anything from them.

India even used to import Holi Ki Pichkari, says PM Modi
