UP Horror: 20-Year-Old Woman Found Hanging from Tree with Hands Tied, Family Alleges Murder

Ballia (UP): A 20-year-old woman was found hanging from a tree with her hands tied behind her back in a village in the Nagra area on Sunday morning. The victim’s family alleged murder, stating that she could not have taken her own life.

Family Alleges Foul Play, Demands Justice

The woman’s maternal grandmother said that the deceased was set to get married on April 25. "The condition of the body makes it clear that my granddaughter did not commit suicide. Many people are involved in this incident. I want justice. Strict action should be taken against the culprits," she demanded.

Police Suspect Love Affair

Superintendent of Police Omveer Singh said, "Prima facie, the case is related to a love affair." He added that four teams had been formed to investigate the matter and uncover the truth at the earliest.

The woman had been alone at home for the past two days, as her parents had gone to Lucknow for medical treatment. Her brother was in Gujarat, and her sister lived with her family in Assam. The nearest house was 40-50 meters away.

Police received information about the body through the 112 emergency helpline. Officers from the crime branch and surveillance teams reached the scene, where the body was found hanging six feet above the ground from a jamun tree, with her hands tied behind her back, Singh said.

The body was sent for post-mortem, and a team consisting of local police, surveillance units, a circle officer from Rasra, and an additional superintendent of police was assigned to investigate the case. Singh later confirmed that the body was found six to seven feet away from her home.

When asked about the possibility of sexual assault, Singh said, "Details will become clearer only after the post-mortem report."

Political Parties On Women’s Safety

The Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress strongly criticized the BJP-led government, accusing it of failing to protect women in the state.

In a statement on social media platform X, the Samajwadi Party wrote in Hindi: "Daughters are becoming victims of the Adityanath government's failure! The body of a 17-year-old girl was found hanging from a tree in Ballia. Sisters and daughters are being murdered, raped, and exploited every day under the BJP government. Is this the chief minister's 'zero tolerance'? Strictest action should be taken against the accused and justice delivered."

The Congress' Uttar Pradesh unit also condemned the incident, stating, "Such heart-wrenching incidents are happening with sisters and daughters every day under the BJP government. But Baba ji (CM Yogi Adityanath) cannot see anything beyond the pleasure of his power!"

Authorities have assured that a thorough investigation is underway, with multiple teams working to unravel the mystery behind the young woman’s tragic death. The police are awaiting the post-mortem report, which is expected to shed light on the cause of death and possible signs of assault.
