UP Woman loses baby after allegedly being forced to deliver at hospital gate by staff

The Badaun woman's husband alleged that the hospital staff pushed them out when they said they are unable to pay Rs 5,000 for tests.

Badaun: A woman lost her newborn after she was forced to deliver at the gate of a hospital in Uttar Pradesh. A resident of Kabulpura locality in Badaun, the woman was allegedly refused service by the hospital staff because she couldn't afford the delivery. 

According to the woman Neelam's husband, her labour pain started Saturday evening and she was rushed to the District Women's Hospital. He alleged that the hospital staff pushed them out when they said they are unable to pay Rs 5,000 for tests.

He said that by the time his family reached the hospital the baby had already been delivered at the gate but died due to lack of treatment and extreme cold. 

Manoj Kumar, the Budaun District Magistrate, said on Sunday that an investigation has been ordered into the matter and the city magistrate has been ordered to submit a report in three days.

"This is a very serious matter. Such negligence cannot be forgiven under any circumstances," he said per PTI. 

"The hospital staff "mistreated" the woman by refusing to admit her. The city magistrate has been instructed to investigate the incident and submit a report in three days. Based on the report, strict action will be taken against those found guilty," Kumar added.
