Ghaziabad: In a freak accident, two constables, deployed as security personnel for a local builder, met with a fatal accident on Monday night. The incident was reported in Ghaziabad's Indrapuram area at 11:45 pm. According to police sources, the cops died on the spot before they were rushed to the nearby hospital in Indrapuram. Alleging foul play, one of the deceased's father has claimed that there were four constables, and not two.

The Innova met with an accident while taking a U-turn from Vasundhara Chowki towards Indrapuram intersection. Speaking to Republic, Indrapuram SHO said, "According to primary information, the car was travelling at a high speed as told by eye witnesses. While the car was taking U turn it rammed into the divider as the car lost control. More than 20 people gathered to take out constables from the car which was badly damaged after accident." Soon after the incident, the eyewitnesses called the police helpline number and a team rushed to the spot. "We have recorded statement of eyewitnesses but the nearby CCTVs are also being checked and investigation has started in this matter," the SHO further added. The SHO also pointed out at the low visibility in the area due to the prevailing fog situation as another possible reason behind the mishap.

The deceased have been identified as Jai Om Sharma from the Delhi Police cadre and Jaiveer Singh from the UP police cadre. "According to eye witnesses, only two constables were present in car during the accident. Bodies have been sent for postmortem further investigation. We can determine the cause of accident only after the report. The constables were badly injured when they were rushed to the hospital," said the SHO.

Refuting the police claims, Singh's father Ghanshyam told Republic, "I spoke to my son around 8pm and he told four people were together and he also mentioned that by 10 pm he will be back home." Alleging murder, Ghanshyam's father said, "I am sure the other two constables would have ran from the spot and this is not an accident. It's a murder which is committed by other fellow colleaques of my son." The father demanded a panel, comprising of a team of doctors and people from the administration, should thoroughly probe the post-mortem report. I "There are only three constables in builders security, then, how only two of them died? We will give memorandum to District Magistrate and demand fair investigation", said Ghanshyam.
