When Orry, in the News for Drinking at Vaishno Devi, Met Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: A new controversy has emerged after social media influencer Orhan Awatramani, better known as Orry, along with seven others, were booked for consuming alcohol at a hotel in Katra, the base camp for the sacred Mata Vaishno Devi temple, by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

According to sources from Republic, Russian national, Anastasila Arzamaskina, is among the eight individuals involved in the matter.

An FIR (No. 72/25) has been filed at Katra Police Station against Orhan Awatramani (Orry), Darshan Singh, Parth Raina, Ritick Singh, Rashi Dutta, Rakshita Bhogal, Shagun Kohli, and Anastasila Arzamaskina for violating a District Magistrate's order and for offending religious sentiments. The charges are filed under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The Leader of Opposition in Jammu and Kashmir, Sunil Sharma, strongly criticised the incident, calling it unfortunate that a Bollywood figure was involved in hurting religious sentiments. He emphasised that such behavior should never have occurred at the Mata Vaishno Devi site, which holds immense religious significance for millions. Sharma supported the police’s actions, noting the FIR registration and calling for strict measures against the culprits. He also condemned the consumption of alcohol and non-vegetarian food at such a revered location, labeling it completely unacceptable.

Orry, a close friend of several young Bollywood celebrities including Janhvi Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Khushi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, and Ibrahim Ali Khan, frequently attracts attention with his social media presence, attending various parties, brunches, and dinner dates with influencers worldwide.

In 2023, he shared an Instagram story that showed him alongside Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, which left social media users curious about their connection. The picture, taken at Nobu, Old Park Lane in London, showed the two smiling for the camera, with Orry wearing a black T-shirt and olive green pants, while Rahul wore a blue T-shirt and jeans. Orry captioned the photo with "Today @lunch," tagging Rahul, and later geo-tagged the location as Nobu.

Orry’s Instagram is full of posts featuring himself with various Bollywood celebrities, but his connections extend beyond Bollywood, with friendships in Hollywood as well. He was spotted hanging out with the Kardashian family and has a bond with Kylie Jenner. He also met rapper Travis Scott at a concert. In a recent interview, Orry described his diverse roles, including those of a singer, songwriter, fashion designer, creative director, fashion stylist, executive assistant, shopper, buyer, football player, and art curator.
