Schools in Punjab will be closed from December 14 to December 31, 2023 because of the very cold winter weather. The Education Minister, Harjot Singh Bains, says that classes will start again on January 1, 2024. However, due to the extremely harsh winters, there's a possibility that authorities might change their decision and keep the schools closed for a longer time. If parents or students have any questions or are confused about the school holidays in Punjab, they can contact the school administration.

Winter breaks usually happen every year because it gets very cold, and it's tough for school leaders to decide when to reopen. But the final decision is up to the authorities. Any updates or new information about changes to the school holidays in Punjab will be shared here.

It's important to know that there are around 19,000 public/government schools and about 6,000 private schools in Punjab. More than 40 lakh students attend these schools.

Parents, students, and teachers are worried because the Indian Meteorological Department has warned that visibility will be less than 50 meters. They are asking for an extended holiday before classes start again because it's too cold for them to go to school.
