Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, US Surgeon General Spread Awareness About Mental Health

Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar spoke at length about the mental well-being of individuals at a congregation held at the Art of Living International Center in Bengaluru. Among those present was Dr Vivek Murthy, US Surgeon General. The address coincided with World Mental Health Day, as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar shed light on how meditation offers a holistic solution to mental health issues plaguing people worldwide.
The event ran for over 1 hour and was attended by over 10,000 people, with visitors from over 90 countries marking their presence. The gathering was webcast to over 140 countries. One of the attendees was Dr Vivek Murthy, US Surgeon General, who is known for his efforts in promoting mental wellness. He joined Sri Sri Ravi Shankar as they collectively addressed burning questions about how mental health ails many across the globe and what measures can be taken to tackle it.
Sharing a glimpse of the event, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar wrote on X, "The issue of mental health is a global crisis affecting humanity at large, and the solution lies in meditation and having a broader context to life. An insightful interaction with US @Surgeon_General, Vice Admiral Dr. Vivek Murthy, on holistic well-being at the @BangaloreAshram."
Before attending Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's seminar, Dr Murthy met Aamir Khan and his daughter Ira Khan and spoke to them about mental well-being and the role individuals can play in fostering a healthy environment, where not only physical but mental health is given importance.
He also interacted with students at Dhirubhai Ambani International School and The American School of Bombay and discussed their issues related to mental health. Dr Murthy also organised a meet and greet with the students of IIT Bombay, which was moderated by Ira Khan, where she also opened up about her mental health battles and the journey to overcoming them.
