Singles knocked out

With Sindhu's exit, India lost a chance of winning the singles title after star shuttlers Saina Nehwal, Kidambi Srikanth and Parupalli Kashyap were all knocked out of the competition.

Saina Nehwal lost her quarterfinals match against South Korea's An Se Young 20-22, 21-23 in just 49 minutes, making it the second casualty for an Indian shuttler against the 17-year old player after she knocked out Sindhu in Denmark Open earlier this month.

In the men's category, Srikanth lost to second seed Chou Tien Che 15-21, 21-7, 21-14 in the first round. Kashyap, on the other hand, had lost to Ng Ka Long Angus 11-21, 9-21.

However, the men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty has been providing some cheers to the Indians as they reached the semifinals of the tournament after defeating the Danish pair of Kim Astrup and Anders Rasmussen. The pair will play fifth seeds Hiroyuki Endo and Yuta Watanabe in the semifinals on Saturday.
