Toronto Raptors coach Nick Nurse reveals Kawhi Leonard's 'winning mentality'

Kawhi Leonard, who was the focal point of the NBA Finals last season with Toronto Raptors, now plays for Los Angeles Clippers who took on Toronto Raptors at Staples Center on Wednesday night. For Kawhi, it was the first time he was facing his former team after helping them lift 2018-19 NBA Championship. Although Kawhi Leonard didn't have the best of games, Clippers still prevailed with a 98-88 win.

Toronto Raptors coach Nick Nurse on Kawhi Leonard 

Prior to Clippers’ win, Raptors head coach Nick Nurse addressed the media and said that he had some really really interesting one on one kind of meetings with Kawhi where he got some insight on who he was as a player and a person which he doesn’t think he will ever forget.

The Raptors coach also spoke about the Clippers star's winning mentality that he displayed at all times and said that he just thought it was really interesting how Kawhi always talked about, all he really cared about, was playing, staying healthy, playing for a long time, and winning.

The coach also added that Kawhi once told him that they gotta get the win, they gotta get better, and it’s a good team and that’s all he is about.

LA Clippers coach Doc Rivers has already seen what Leonard brings both on and off the court. He admitted that Leonard has an incredible will. The coach said he doesn’t know what it is, but Leonard's determination is like, ‘I’m gonna go get the win.’

Rivers said that what he loves about Kawhi Leonard is he plays the game to win. The coach also added that he has the ability to get by what’s happened during the game because if it’s closing time, he has the ability to focus, and you can see him doing that.
