Aaron Finch stresses on building a 'well-balanced' side for T20 WC

Australia's skipper Aaron Finch emphasized on the need to build a 'well-balanced' and consistent side ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2020. Australia are currently facing Sri Lanka in three T20s following which they will face Pakistan. Aaron Finch, who returned to the side after an injury, looked like he had returned to form with a 64-run knock off 36 balls in the first T20 that saw Australia win bya huge margin of 134 runs. Most teams around the world have kick-started their preparations for the T20 World Cup which is scheduled to start on October 18, 2020.

Aaron Finch wants to build a solid side

The Australian skipper stressed on the need to build a squad of the right consistency and chemistry in order to beat the best teams in the world. Aaron Finch said that it was essential for them to have a balanced side and to sustain the winning momentum for a long period of time. Aaron Finch said that every exercise of the team, both on and off the field, was done keeping the T20 World Cup in the back of their minds and said that there were around 20 games left for Australia before the World Cup next year. I*n addition to this, Aaron Finch added that Australia's policy of giving more opportunities for youngsters in the international circle will improve the chances to build a better squad as there were more cricketers in the domestic circle than in the international arena for Australia.

Australia rout Sri Lanka in 1st T20

Australia handed Sri Lanka a huge 134-run defeat in the first T20 at The Oval, Adelaide in the first T20 match on Sunday as the preparations for the World T20 went underway. Chasing a mammoth target of 234 runs, Sri Lanka's batting order collapsed to the pressure of the Australian bowlers, with spinner Adam Zampa picking up three scalps while pacers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins picked up two wickets each. Sri Lanka's highest run-scorer in the match was Dasun Shanaka, who scored 17 runs, followed by skipper Lasith Malinga and Kusal Perera. 

Australia's opener David Warner registered his first maiden T20I ton against Sri Lanka on Sunday as Australia raced to 233 runs in the first T20 at Adelaide. David Warner raced to his century off just 56 balls, including ten fours and four sixes. David Warner marked his comeback to the national side in the shortest form of the game after his international ban with a century and remained unbeaten at the end of Australia's innings. Sri Lanka's pacers suffered the wrath of Aaron Finch, David Warner, and Glen Maxwell, leaving them jolted as Australia lost just one wicket in their 20 overs. and set a target of 233 runs for Sri Lanka to chase down.
