On their second-ever bilateral tour to India, the Bangladeshi team will be visiting the cricket-crazy nation next month for a three-match T20I series and two-match Test series. The Test series between two Asian giants will be the second edition of Ganguly–Durjoy Trophy, which started when the Bangladesh team previously visited India in 2017. In the 2017 series, Team India won the one-off Test match by 208 runs. Virat Kohli scored a quick-fire 204 in the first innings to propel India’s total to 687-6d.
With just two weeks left in the tour, the Bangladesh cricket team received an injury scare as their regular opener Tamim Iqbal was ruled out of the ongoing National Cricket League match. The left-hander suffered a muscle strain in the tournament and will now miss out the second-round game for Chittagong Division.
While speaking with the reporters, BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury said, "His rib sustained slight injury day before yesterday. As he was not feeling pain, he batted in the nets yesterday but again the pain resurfaced and we had a scan yesterday and we got the report today that suggested that he should take rest for the next seven days”.
The upcoming tour is scheduled to begin with a T20I affair in Delhi on November 3. The opening match will be followed by two more clashes scheduled on November 7 and 10. The second and third T20I matches will be held in Rajkot and Nagpur. The three-match T20I series will then be followed by two Test matches which will begin on November 14 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. To complete the tour, the final match of the series is scheduled for November 22 at the Eden Gardens. The Ganguly–Durjoy Test series will also form a part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship. Team India currently leads the Championship points table while Bangladesh are yet to open their campaign.
