BCCI Electoral Officer explains "criteria" for deleting big names

"Under-pressure" to explain the "criteria" for deleting "big names" from BCCI's Final Electoral Roll, BCCI has made it clear that proper and due procedure has been followed to finalize the "eligible names" who can attend & vote in Board's AGM.  In a letter to all the BCCI members and State Associations, a copy of which is with Republic TV, Electoral Officer N Gopalswami wrote:

"The Electoral Officer received numerous objections in respect of entries on the Draft Electoral Roll issued on 4 October 2019. Upon declaration of the Final Electoral Roll on 10 October 2019, the Electoral Officer has received requests to provide a response on the treatment of specific objections and to clarify the process undertaken and materials and issues evaluated by the Electoral Officer during the scrutiny process of the entries on the Draft Electoral Roll.

"All objections received on or before 7 October 2019 by the Electoral Officer were reviewed and processed by the Electoral Officer. In so far as they related to compliance by the Full Member and the conduct and results of elections of the Full Members, these objections were outside the ambit of the Electoral Officer’s Terms of Reference."

The scope of Electoral Office

Explaining the scope of the Electoral Office it said: "Electoral Officer’s remit during scrutiny of applications for the nomination of Representatives of compliant Full Members, it said was to determine (i) whether the nominee had been properly authorized in accordance with the constitution of the Member Association, as approved by the CoA, and the BCCI constitution and (ii) whether the nominee was eligible to act as a Representative in terms of the constitution of the Member Association, as approved by the CoA, and the BCCI constitution. Where the Electoral Officer deemed necessary, the Representative was provided an opportunity to respond in writing or during a personal hearing, to relevant objections to his candidature."

"The scrutiny was completed after due consideration of the objections received, responses provided and information relating to compliance status of Full Members, as provided by the CoA to the Electoral Officer."

"The Final Electoral Roll was duly compiled after completion of the scrutiny process as above. This clarification may serve as a general response to all concerned."
