India's limited-overs opener Shikhar Dhawan spilled the beans on the difference in the captaincy style of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and said that they were two different characters individually. The explosive left-handed opener, who is currently sitting out of the Test side, dived into the details of the difference in the captaincy style of Virat Kohli and India's stand-in T20 skipper Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli's break from the T20 series against Bangladesh allowed Rohit Sharma to showcase his skills as a captain and has made his claim for the position of skipper even stronger than before after the series win against Bangladesh.

Shikhar Dhawan on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli

Speaking to an online news portal, Shikhar Dhawan labeled Rohit Sharma as a very strategic captain whereas Virat Kohli was an aggressive skipper. Shikhar Dhawan said that both the players had different characters and had unique capabilities in managing the team. The left-handed batsman revealed that while Virat Kohli discussed plans with Rohit Sharma and himself while he led whereas Rohit Sharma discussed plans with Shikhar Dhawan when he was leading the side. Shikhar Dhawan also expressed confidence in getting the combination of the team right before the T20 World Cup in Australia next year and assured that the team would return victorious from the showpiece event.

Shikhar Dhawan eyes comeback to Test side

Speaking to a news agency, Shikhar Dhawan said that he was always on for Test cricket and that he will be grabbing the opportunities in the domestic cricket tournaments such as the Ranji Trophy to improve his chances. Reiterating his aim to be back on the Test side, Shikhar Dhawan said that he would be playing domestic cricket when he will not be playing for India in any of the three formats. Talking about missing out from the Test side playing Bangladesh, Shikhar Dhawan said that he had no regrets for doing so but revealed that he had accepted it and was working hard to come back strongly.

Shikhar Dhawan backs Rishabh Pant

Speaking to a news agency, Shikhar Dhawan threw his weight behind young Pant and said that he should refrain from reading or listening to what was being written or broadcasted about him. Shikhar Dhawan suggested that Pant should stop paying attention to the critics as it would be registered in his mind and that is the reason why he himself had stopped reading or seeing news about him. Recollecting his own days when he began playing, Shikhar Dhawan said that he had learnt that it was a journey and that he had also seen the same critics during the beginning of his career. Shikhar Dhawan backed Rishabh Pant and said that he believed that the young lad could do wonders for the team.
