Chris Gayle is known as the ‘Universe Boss’, not just for his on-field exploits, but also his swashbuckling lifestyle off it. So, it’s obvious he’ll be unhappy when he was asked to travel in economy class. But before the airline allegedly made this request, the West Indian cricketer was already furious about Emirates airline not allowing him to board a flight as it was ‘overbooked.’ Gayle stated that he was ‘disappointed’ and termed it ‘ridiculous’ on the part of the airline to do so, while terming it as a ‘bad experience.’

Chris Gayle on Monday took to Twitter and wrote, “So disappointed @emirates, I have a confirmed flight and they gonna tell me that they are over booked. Not only that, @emirates want me to travel economy when it’s a business class ticket - so now I have to travel on a later flight! Just ridiculous @emirates!Bad experience.” The customer support team of Emirates did try to get to pacify the veteran cricketer, “We're sorry to know about this, Chris. Please DM us your booking reference and email address. We'll check your options and let you know.” But looking at his mood then, it seems unlikely that he is going to reply to the message.

A day before, another celebrity, Sonakshi Sinha too had expressed her displeasure with an airline, but that was for damaging her bag. Sharing a video of her luggage, she had lashed out, “Hi @IndiGo6E, Hulk is 6E, this was not so 6E. You broke the unbreakable.#Indigo.”

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Chris Gayle had made headlines for his last international match in August. He had played a fiery knock of 72 off 41 balls in the third T20I against India and his celebration, raising the bat with the helmet on top of it, and the walk back had sparked speculation on his retirement.  He, however, said, “I didn't announce anything...any retirement." When asked if planned to continue playing, the 40-year-old had then said, "Yeah, until further notice." Meanwhile, Chris Gayle is gearing up to play in The Hundred, a hundred-ball cricket tournament to be played in England. He was among the cricketers who received the highest base price, £125k.
