Harbhajan Singh joined the cricketing fraternity in wishing India's Test keeper Wriddhiman Saha on his birthday, as the former spinner took to Twitter to convey his wishes. Wriddhiman Saha earned his much-anticipated call-up to the Test side against South Africa after proving himself in the domestic tourney. Wriddhiman Saha repaid the selectors' belief with a brilliant display of his skills behind the stumps, taking blinders across all three games. As Wriddhiman Saha turned 35 years, the cricketing fraternity took to wish him success and luck for his path ahead. Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh hailed Wriddhiman Saha as 'Superman' as he took to Twitter to wish the keeper.

Wriddhiman Saha on keeping

While addressing the media ahead of the third Test match at Ranchi, Wriddhiman Saha said that wicket-keeping is a thankless job.  "Keeping is a tough job and it is a thankless job as we are wearing gloves so everybody thinks that we will catch every ball easily. It is not an easy job on turning track or on the pitch where there is uneven bounce," Saha told reporters in the pre-match conference on Friday. "We prepare according to the wicket. I know the way how Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin bowl so I adjust myself according to the situation," he added. "Everyone tries to contribute to the team. As a player, I try to contribute with my keeping and then with batting," said Saha.

Some of the best catches by the wicket-keeper/batsman

1. Kings XI Punjab vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, Match 8 – IPL 2017

In match number 8 of IPL 10, Kings XI Punjab hosted the Royal Challengers Bangalore for their second game of the tournament. The RCB, batting first, got off to a slow start as they scored just 68 after their first 13 overs. Just when their number 5 batsman Mandeep Singh was looking set to fire on all cylinders, the right-hander top-edged one in the night sky. Kings XI’s wicketkeeper Saha covered some good distance as he ran almost three-fourths towards the boundary. Flying to his right, he dived towards fine-leg and grabbed the catch with both hands to take one of the best grabs of the tournament.

2. India vs Australia, first Test, 2017

The Australian team toured India for a four-match Border-Gavaskar Test series in 2017. On Day 1 of the series itself, Saha took a stunner to get rid of Steve O’Keefe. Umesh Yadav induced an outside-edge that flew towards the slip region. Flying Saha grabbed the catch with one hand to gift Yadav his third wicket of the innings. The catch still remains one of the highlights of that victorious Indian campaign.

3. India vs South Africa, second Test, 2019

In a series completely dominated by the Indians, Saha’s contributions behind the wicket also made the difference between two sides. On Day 4 of the second Test in Pune, Saha dived to his left to take one of the greatest catches ever by any wicketkeeper. South Africa were eventually shot-out for 189 to hand India a victory by an innings and 137 runs
