Ahead of the blockbuster clash between India and hosts England, former English skipper Kevin Pietersen had come forward with a special request for India's head coach Ravi Shastri and skipper Virat Kohli.

Pietersen took to  Twitter and wrote 'Dear Virat & Ravi - please don’t drop Vijay Shankar. I think he’s coming into his own and would potentially win you tomorrow’s game. Don’t think about Pant. He needs another 3 weeks prep before I think he can get into your World Cup side. Thanks, boys!.'

However, his tweet drew a lot of flak on social media as netizens believed that the ex-batsman was up to something fishy. Here are a few tweets.

Nonetheless, KP decided to have fun at his own expense by morphing his image and captain Virat Kohli making fun of him. This image is of Vijay Shankar and Kohli had given this reaction after Shankar had scalped Imam-ul-Haq on his very first ball of the World Cup against arch-rivals Pakistan.

Even here, the netizens did not miss out on a chance to take a dig at the cricketer-turned-commentator.
