Team India had a successful tour of West Indies where they whitewashed the Caribbeans in their own backyard. India won the T20I series with a clean sweep of 3-0, ODIs 2-0 and Tests 2-0 respectively. The Virat Kohli-led side retained their top spot in the Test rankings with comprehensive wins in both Antigua as well as Jamaica by huge margins of 318 and 257 runs respectively to reach the summit of the ICC World Test Championship with 120 points. Now, the focus shifts to the home series as India will be hosting South Africa for a three-match T20I series which will be followed by a three-match Test series which will be a part of the ICC World Test Championship campaign.

Just like the Test series, skipper Virat Kohli believes that even the T20I series will be crucial as India start their preparations for next year's ICC World T20 in Australia. Ahead of the 1st T20I with SA, some members of Team India, including Virat Kohli, his vice-captain, Rohit Sharma and the head coach Ravi Shastri, were seen in Team India's jersey which will now have a new sponsor.

Virat Kohli on experimenting with new players

While addressing the media ahead of the first T20I against South Africa at Dharamshala on Sunday, Indian skipper Virat Kohli spoke about trying new players with 30 matches left before ICC World T20 2020.

"We have 30 matches left before the World T20 and this is the best opportunity for us to try and check what our best combination is in the next 2-3 series. We will also understand how much ability, character and composure the new players posses while performing at the international level."

"From that point of view, it becomes very exciting for a captain and the team management to fit different players in combination and see how they perform because we all have been through that process. So, it feels good when new players come and express themselves", he said.
