The franchises have announced their retained and released lists ahead of the IPL Auction 2020. Mohit Sharma, who was bought back by CSK for ₹5Cr, was released by the franchise after struggling with injuries in the past year. A fast bowler, who has a number of variations up his sleeve, Mohit Sharma can be an asset to a number of franchises as Indian death bowlers are a rare breed in the IPL Auction 2020.

IPL Auction 2020: 3 teams who could cash in on ex-CSK Mohit Sharma

Mohit Sharma has played 85 IPL games, picking up 91 wickets at an economy of 8.41. A bowler who operates in the 130s, Mohit Sharma’s seam position and accuracy make him a valuable bowler to have in your side. While there’s a high chance that Mohit Sharma might be bought back by CSK for a lower price in the IPL Auction 2020, it seems unlikely considering the emergence of Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur amongst the ranks. Let’s take a look at 3 franchises who could benefit from having Mohit Sharma amongst their ranks.

1.  Royal Challengers Bangalore

Death bowling has always been a concern for the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). While the RCB boasts the likes of Mohammad Siraj, Umesh Yadav and Navdeep Saini, nobody except Saini has been able to live up to the fans’ expectations. With the Chinnaswamy track on the slower side, Mohit Sharma’s back of the hand slower deliveries and the ability to bowl accurate yorkers make him one of the death-bowling options that RCB are seeking in the IPL Auction 2020.

2. Kings XI Punjab

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) tasted little success with Mohit Sharma, eventually deciding to let him go ahead of the 2018 player auctions. With KXIP trading Ankit Rajpoot for Krishnappa Gowtham of Rajasthan Royals (RR), the Punjab pace attack wears a depleted look. KXIP could cash in on Mohit Sharma again in the IPL Auction 2020. Mohit Sharma’s experience of playing at the top-level could help Punjab’s younger fast bowlers while also helping KXIP’s chances of a Top 4 finish in IPL 2020.

3.  Delhi Capitals

The Delhi Capitals (DC) were quite active in the trading market ahead of the IPL Auction 2020, acquiring two Indian stars in Ajinkya Rahane and Ravichandran Ashwin. The Capitals' pace attack have Ishant Sharma and Avesh Khan amongst their Indian pace contingent. The addition of Mohit Sharma will definitely add more depth to their side considering his T20 experience. While Ishant has become a Test match specialist, Mohit Sharma could be relied on considering Avesh Khan’s inexperience.
