4. Dinesh Karthik - Delhi Capitals - 2014

The then Daredevils coughed up a whopping 12.5 crore rupees for the Tamil Nadu wicket-keeper batsman, who used to be a part of the team until the 2011 season when he joined Kings XI Punjab. Karthik, who was a part of first-time champions Mumbai Indians in 2013, joined the struggling Delhi Daredevils for the 2014 season in which they ended up at the last position on the points table, as the team only managed to win two games out of their fourteen. Karthik scored 325 runs in those matches, which included three fifties.

3. Yuvraj Singh - Royal Challengers Bangalore - 2014

RCB paid a mammoth Rs.14 crore to avail the services of the explosive all-rounder after a massive bidding war with the likes of Kolkata Knight Riders. RCB did not fare well in the 2014 season, only managing to win five games and ending at seventh in the points table. Yuvraj scored 376 runs in the 14 games he played for RCB and hit 28 sixes in the 2014 season.

2. Ben Stokes - Rising Pune Supergiant - 2017

For their sophomore year in the IPL, the Supergiant management wanted to bolster the team with the likes of the English all-rounder. RPS purchased Benjamin Andrew Stokes for a whopping Rs.14.5 crore. Stokes did not disappoint as he helped the Pune team reach the IPL finals and scored 316 runs in just the 12 matches he played as he even scored a hundred against the Gujarat Lions. He hit 15 sixes in that IPL season.

1. Yuvraj Singh - Delhi Capitals - 2015

Coming off the 14-crore-deal with RCB, Yuvraj re-entered the auction pool only for Delhi to one-up RCB. The then Daredevils paid a massive amount of Rs. 16 crore to have Yuvraj wear the Delhi jersey. Yuvraj's arrival did not change Delhi's fortunes as the team still ended the tournament at number seven, failing to qualify for the playoffs yet again. Yuvraj could not recreate his 2014 magic either as he only scored 248 runs in his 14 matches.
