Indian opener Mayank Agarwal survived a scare after he was hit by a bouncer on the helmet off South Africa's Anrich Nortje's screamer on Day one of the second Test in Pune on Thursday. Winning the toss on his 50th match as captain, Virat Kohli put the Indian to bat in the second contest of the Test series. After Rohit Sharma departed early in the innings, Mayank Agarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara attempted to steady the ship for the hosts, who were struggling to face the Proteas pacers. During the 11th over, Mayank Agarwal waws hit on his helmet by a bouncer from Anrich Nortje, such being the impact of the ball that it bounced off Mayank Agarwal's helmet to the boundary behind the stumps on the leg side. The Indian team's support staff immediately rushed on to the field to check on Mayank Agarwal and he was cleared after his helmet was examined for any damage. However, Mayank Agarwal punched the next delivery to the boundary, making his comeback from the bouncer scare in style.

Virat Kohli wins the toss in 2nd Test

Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat on Thursday, as the hosts looked to keep their winning momentum going. The Indian side saw just one change come through from the previous game with pacer Umesh Yadav replacing middle-order batsman Hanuma Vihari. Virat Kohli had earlier said that the number of bowlers in the side would be decided on the pitch in Pune and its conditions and the Indian team has gone with five bowlers in the second contest. Ashwin and Jadeja, who were in sublime form in the previous game, will hope to repeat their magic while all eyes will be on Shami in the second innings. Rohit Sharma departed for just 14 runs after he was caught behind by de Kock off Kagiso Rabada. Mayank Agarwal will be looking to extend his run-scoring streak from the previous game and will be aiming to stay at the crease for a long time after his partner was dismissed quite early. South Africa, on the other hand, made one change to their team with Anrich Nortje coming in as a replacement for Dane Piedt.
