The first Test between India and Bangladesh began on November 14, 2019, at the Holkar Stadium. Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first. However, it took Indian bowlers no time to show their dominance on home soil as Bangladeshi were all-out for just 150 runs after being on the pitch for 58.3 overs. Rohit Sharma lost his wicket early but Mayank Agarwal played a classy knock of 243 runs off 320 balls. Cheteshwar Pujara also got his half-century on the board. Indian skipper Virat Kohli couldn’t make any impact on the game as he got out for a duck.

The ‘Men in Blue’ ended Day 2 with a lead of 343 runs and a total of 493/6 on board. However, the day ended on a very bright note for the hosts as fast bowler Umesh Yadav hammered 25 runs in just 10 balls which included three sixes and a four. The riot was not all of a shock to the viewers as the tailender has made a name for himself in recent years for his attacking batting style. Umesh Yadav also did well with the ball as he picked up two wickets by allowing just 27 runs in 14.3 overs.
