Yuvraj Singh shares throwback snap of his debut in Indian colours

Yuvraj Singh struck nostalgia as he shared an old picture of himself alongside Rahul Dravid from when he was first selected for the Indian cricket team

Former Indian cricketer, Yuvraj Singh on October 3 shared an old picture of himself when he first got selected in the Indian cricket team. Singh played his first-ever ODI match on October 3 against Kenya in the Champions Trophy. In the picture, Yuvraj Singh is seen standing next to former Indian cricketer and captain Rahul Dravid. During his international career which spanned for around 17 years, Yuvraj Singh picked 148 international wickets and scored 11,778 runs in 404 matches in which he represented India. The former left-handed all-rounder enjoys a huge fan following in India and is widely regarded as a role model for many youngsters.

Yuvraj Singh debuted for India in 2000

Singh who is considered as one of the best all-rounders of Indian cricket took to the micro-blogging website to share his debut picture from 2000. In his tweet, he captioned the picture as a 'proud moment' and a 'priceless memory' when he first got selected to play for the team. Singh who has had a phenomenal career started from the U-19 World Cup in 2000 which India won as he was adjourned the player of the tournament. In his first knock, he scored 84 against Australia in Nairobi and was a crucial part of the Indian team that went on to reach the final of the 2003 cricket World Cup. After the 2011 World Cup, Singh was diagnosed with cancer and received treatment in USA. He was discharged in March 2012 and was picked for India for the 2012 T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka.

Singh wins Man of the Tournament in 2011 ICC World Cup

Yuvraj Singh, who has played some fine innings over the years as a batsman, is fondly remembered for 6 sixes in 6 balls against Stuart Broad in the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup. His all-round performance in the 2011 ICC Cricket World was extremely significant and instrumental in India lifting the cup. Yuvraj scored more than 300 runs, took 15 wickets and also won four man-of-the-match awards during the course of the tournament. He was declared as the Man of The Tournament of the 2011 World Cup.
