During summer this year, Manchester United owners, the Glazers stopped former manager Jose Mourinho from selling forward Anthony Martial. Now, the club's manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reaping the benefits of not having sold the player. According to reports, Mourinho wanted to sell the Frenchman and bring in Ivan Perisic as his replacement.

Solskjaer is reaping the benefits

Mourinho highly regarded the Croatian and wanted to bring him in place of Martial because he thought that it was high time for the forward to leave because of inconsistent performances in the past two years and a weak mentality and delicate attitude. Mourinho's attempt to sign Perisic fell through as Chief Executive Ed Woodward refused to pay full amount of £48m to Inter Milan.

According to reports, Martial became the favorite of the Glazers, especially Joel Glazer and he proved to be too good an asset to be let go. With Martial returning to the playing Xl after a long injury lay off, he is enjoying his best form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

In his first match for the Red Devils, Martial scored a crucial goal in a UEFA Europa League match against Partizan Belgrade. He again netted a goal in United's 3-1 win over Norwich City. The Frenchman was back on the scoresheet as United beat Partizan Belgrade 3-0 in another Europa League encounter.

Martial is a Red Devil

He justified his worth as a Manchester United player by playing a crucial role by providing two assists in a 3-1 win over Brighton in a league match on November 10. According to reports, whenever Martial was part of the team, they won 77.3% of their matches under Solskjaer and whenever he was benched or injured, the Red Devils witnessed a sharp decline to an appalling 27.8%. 

Manchester United are currently 7th in the league after having won 4, drawing 4 and losing 4 of the 12 matches they have played so far. They next play against 5th placed Sheffield United on November 24 in a league match to be played at the Bramall Lane stadium.
