Dean Smith's Aston Villa face a tough test this weekend as Liverpool get ready for a trip to Villa Park on Saturday, November 2. Aston Villa have been in decent form in their last three fixtures, registering wins against Norwich City and Brighton & Hove Albion. Their opponents for this weekend, Liverpool, have been in exhilarating form this season. Liverpool are undefeated in 10 Premier League games so far this season. The league leaders have taken 28 points out of a possible 30.

Aston Villa's wins over relegation strugglers Norwich City and Brighton & Hove Albion provided some respite to Dean Smith's newly-promoted side. Having seen their prolific striker Tammy Abraham return to the Blues this season, The Claret and Blue have been a little short on firepower in the Premier League. On the defensive front, Dean Smith's side have kept just two clean sheets so far, although those have come against arguably better sides like West Ham and Everton. However, Aston Villa have scored 15 goals in their 10 Premier League games so far, which is the highest tally among the bottom five teams in the Premier League this season.

Their opponents for this weekend, meanwhile, are enjoying the form of their life. While Liverpool may not be firing on all cylinders, Jurgen Klopp's side have already emerged unscathed in their games against Leicester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham. As a result, the Reds are currently top of the table and are the only other side apart from Juventus, to have remained unbeaten so far in the league across Europe's top five leagues.

Jurgen Klopp, meanwhile, also has a number of injury concerns. Naby Keita, who was just starting to show form, limped off in the Carabao Cup game against Arsenal. However, the Guinean could be in contention to make the matchday squad. Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are expected to be fully fit for the game after the pair suffered minor injuries in the game against Tottenham. Joel Matip is expected to miss out, with Dejan Lovren taking his place in the playing XI. Xherdan Shaqiri is still recovering from his calf injury and is expected to return after the international break.

Jurgen Klopp is likely to go with the back four that started the game against Tottenham, with Alisson in goal, followed by Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dejan Lovren, Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson in defence. Meanwhile, Fabinho is one booking away from missing Liverpool's next game which is against Manchester City.
